Amigurumi Eeyore handmade by Etsy Shop Owner Heart of the Healer

Image
"Amigurumi" is a Japanese art of crochet where you make animals. The Japanese are master knitters, designing the armor for Samauri, which is intertwined with silks and iron plates and wood. The earliest amigurumi objects were fruit and recorded in the 17th century. Have you seen the cute Pokemon? There's such a mass collection of talented free form artists, but there is a lot of time put into each stuffed animal figure. HOURS. (My kitten right now is playing with her amigurumi oreo as we speak, something I made a long time ago ^ . ^ ) My latest project: Eeyore. I can't remember how many hours went into it -at least 6 hours. Request a custom order, just comment below or visit my shop . Please like my facebook page.

Trade Post #1

Image
Here is a picture of my most recent trade: my leg warmers & moon head band for a custom made labradorite thumb ring (plus she surprised me with a labradorite pendant and gemstones! Insta-Love ). I couldn't help myself and promised a few more trades: a crystal choker, a black floral top, a burgundy cardigan, a tan crop top, and a black maxi skirt. I own a lot of the clothes I've had for a really really long time and I'm really trying to consciously build a wardrobe of essentials and items that fit me well, are in good condition, and compliment my vibes.  "Out with the old, in with the new." My friend Spliffany, who introduced me to the Gypsy Exchange messaged me. I also find that both parties are happier with trades than with money, because my work is worth a lot to me but also some things mean a lot to others. The beauty of trades is the people genuinely want what I have created.

Yarn Haul: Alpaca

Image
70% Alpaca, 30% Merino made in the U.S.A. 200 yards of rose grey and white. It's the first organic fiber I've pulled through my fingers, surprised at how lightweight and warm it is. This would be the perfect yarn for the Gwendolyn Cowl by Living Skies. Yet, I long to know what this would feel like around my skinny legs. I failed to measure the first time and my first leg warmer was too short, I wanted it up to my thigh. (You can look at the leg warmers I make at my Etsy Store.) Now I'm beginning to wonder if its too long! These would also be very costly for leg warmers. Each skein cost $16. But they are handmade, each moment measured in simple textures that shield you from the cold. They stay in place with an elastic. Lovely long lines, I'm just obsessed with the ribbed stitches. I have two designs: the faux diamond cable and the "circus doll "look.

Exfoilating Heart Scrubbies

Image
There’s never enough of the color I need to finish an idea. I keep miscalculating measurements and stitches. It’s the pressure of having an Etsy store . What to do in this creative rut? I've taken a mandatory time out to step back and look around. When I’m in a crochet frenzy, its easy to see: I immediately pick up the yarn and possibility and quickly work until the idea is out of my mind and into my hands. Then there are times when my mind is restless and I don’t know what I should start on. Last month I spent every day with the BLO single crochet, and then some time with the front post single crochet (FPSC). These techniques have pretty lines.. A quick remedy for these stalemates for me are fast projects, like these exfoliating heart scrubbies . They're made out of 100% cotton, Lily & Creme in baby blue. You'll love making one for yourself, the joy of that and the joy of taking care of your body is a plus!

Etsy Treasures

Robbin's Essentials This is the first installment in a new segment on my blog!! Every month I share with you the products that have an Etsy store that I splurged on. They are special because they are handmade and unique. Above is Robbin's Essentials Goat's Milk & Honey Lotion. It smells so friggin good! I got the one that smells like oatmeal cookies. One of the ingredients is "goat milk from our farm". How cute is that? As soon as I saw these blue velvet bellbottoms from Sinew Moon on sale I had to have them. They are handmade and she has the exact same tiny measurements as me! This will fit perfectly. I know I wanted to buy them also because Sinew Moon is like a sister shop to The Sleepy Jane Show , a perfect model for a crochet store. I've spread some of the homemade body lotion everywhere on me, free of chemicals and full of essential body oils because I love the smell! I don't remember putting on hand lotion religiously before n

Sexy Ribbed Legwarmers

Image
I can't stop wearing my cozy ribbed over the knee stockings! Now that I think of it, I don't think I have taken them off. This is another pattern I modified and the effect is a dazzling set of pirouette legwarmers. If you want to get your hands on these lovely legwarmers, follow this link to my etsy store. Tiny dancers are always welcome<3 These are made for a trade. I can't wait to get my beautiful dress! After I made these in coffee, I picked up some soft acrylic yarn in grey. I made adjustments. I need more skeins!! Ready to ship!  October 29, 2016: I had to have a pair of pumpkin! The only shade available was in a bulky yarn, I'm pretty sure this is 90% acrylic and 10% wool. It's machine washable and worked up really quickly! Except I couldn't make the diamond design, and the cuffs didn't look right. They were mega cute withe the stripped shirt I got from second hand, from Adair's Curiosity Shop. It's important t

Pokemon Amigurumi Showcase!

Image
As soon as I saw Cyndaquil on Pin it was love at first site - I knew I had to make me one! The free pattern can be found at Wolfdreamer. I made him last year 2015 and since have dabbed in other amigurumi Pokemon. I've always loved this anime, and influenced my love for more later on. And here is a Pokeball I free formed. Not very round! He's a big eater! I've since perfected the Pokeball and made a Mareep using a free sheep pattern but I free formed the electric tail and ears. I loved making Vaporeon, using the free pattern by AH! Creations blogger (which starts off using the Umbreon pattern by Wolfdreamer) This pattern wasn't the easiest to figure, and I ended up free forming the collar and fins. I LOVVVEED making this mermaid Pokemon and I happened to have the yarn on hand! Plus!! I have some yellow and I'm thinking about making another of my favorite Pokemon, Ampharos except I'm prepping for the Fiber Festival and some irresistible tra
